About Jim Corbett National Park

Jim corbett national park is bordered by two districts of uttarakhand nainital and pauri, which are located in the northern region of India. Jim corbett covers an area of about 521 sq km and together with its neighboring sonanadi wildlife sanctuary and corbett tiger reserve forest areas, these habitats make the Corbett tiger reserve at 1288 sq km very large. Its beautiful geographical location between the himalayas and the tarai in jim corbett and the rivers and ridges that traverse the region present jim corbett with a remarkable diversity. This vivid mosaic of habitats - wet and dry, plain and hilly, soft and rugged, vast tracts of forest and grasses - of many different types of plants and many animals representing the Himalayas as well as the plains. Support the species very well. The most famous of the wild inhabitants of Jim corbett national park are the Jim corbett royal bengal tiger and the Asiatic elephant, but with nearly 600 species of Avifauna here, Jim corbett is one of the richest bird wildlife areas in India. Jim corbett tiger reserve is situated at the foot of the Himalayas in the Shivalik-Terai biological province at its finest. This has brought an amazing variety of habitat types and species of animals from jim corbett. These peninsular India as well as elements of himalayan flora and fauna can be seen very much here. On 1 April 1973, the government of india launched a project tiger, a very ambitious conservation program on the banks of the Ramganga river in the corbett tiger reserve. The launch of this project tiger marked the beginning of scientific wildlife management in our country India. The most important objective of this program is to fully protect the conservation of highly endangered species of tigers (Panthera tigres) and to secure the good preservation of all the major representative ecosystems of tigers as a symbol of our valuable natural heritage. I want to use the national animal of our country. The Jim corbett national park is today the second largest national park in the world with the largest population of free-living tigers. Jim corbett is thus one of the last remaining bastions that holds a potentially viable population of this majestic and very critically endangered felid. It also has a home of about 600 Asiatic elephants (Elephas maximus) in this corbett tiger reserve and is home to several species of tigers, deer, bears, jackals, and 500+ bird species found in Jim corbett and Rajaji national park as well as the Indian subcontinent. It also very well represents the northwestern border of tiger and elephant distribution to a large extent.
